|

I'd just like to warn those that might be thinking of upgrading that there are problems with Windows 7 and UTDC.
If you run UT on Windows 7 you won't be able to play on servers that run UTDC (which are the most)!
This can not be fixed by changing a renderer nor by running UT in compatibility mode.
People are working on a solution for this but theres absolutely no e.t.a. on when this will happen, as the coder of the original UTDC left and took the source code to the virtual grave with him.

Works great on windows 7 x86 or x32.
But in windows x64 that can be installed only on dualcore processors, does not work.
Yesterday I installed the 64 bit version and could not play, so after you install the x86 version worked well.
many people use windows 7 and it works.
Only one observation, yesterday using windows 7 64bit not get into servers, such as BWA, CoPS, but in Tkk server work .
An old version of Utdc in TKK server? |

Servers that are set-up to do memory scans will kick windows 7 64 users.

The problem is that UTDC18 for example could detect certain cheats only with memory scan on.
So since then I'm hesitating to use any UTDC ever again with memory scan off... _________________

I completely understand your reasons behind it. UTDC is the greatest anticheat ever created for UT99, but without the author releasing the
source code, another whole segment of the UT world will die off and the
game we love will be one step closer to extinction. If only I could get my
hands on that code.

Well I just decided to take the plunge and purchase a new PC with windows 7 64 bit. I see that there is a UTDC replacement in the works over at unrealadmins and hope that this will be out soon.
My backup plan is to dual boot my system with Ubuntu linux and play UT from the Linux OS.
I see many references around about UT being installed successfully on a 64 bit linux machine and I don't see any posts or other complaints about it not working with UTDC due to the fact that linux uses 32 bit libraries for a 64 bit UT install.
Does anyone have any experience or feedback that you could share about this idea? |

Hey Bite,
I run UT on 64-bit ubuntu with no probs from UTDC. You should be OK. Let me know if you run in to any issues. _________________

Hey Bite,
I just found my install notes. I recall that there were some library issues and 32-bit / 64-bit hacks. Here they are:
Unreal Tournament on 64-bit Karmic Koala:
1. Followed instructions for libgtk1.2 from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=8169221
- dpkg -x libglib1.2ldbl_1.2.10-19build1_i386.deb .
- dpkg -x libgtk1.2_1.2.10-18.1build2_i386.deb .
- sudo cp * /usr/lib32
2. Run setup script as follows:
linux32 sh unreal.tournament_436-multilanguage.goty.run
* Note: the "linux32" was necessary to get the script to run
Hope this helps... _________________
